SketchUp: Clipping Issue When Zooming In or Orbiting

I've been working on a model in SketchUp for a few weeks now and just a few days ago a problem started that makes it very hard to do anything. I had no problem before, but as I added more and more to the model, the problem began. Anytime I attempt to zoom in close to an object or orbit around it, it gets clipped off on the screen. For reference, the width of the steps in Clipping1 is 1.97 m and the width of the desk in Clipping2 is 0.7 m.

I've tried everything at http://support.google.com/sketchup/b...n&answer=36261 that seems to apply, but nothing helped. I also tried going to Preferences and disabling hardware acceleration. That seemed to solve the problem, but made the model very hard to work with.

I'm running SketchUp 8.0.15157 on Mac OS 10.8.2 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro. I also tried a friend's Retina MacBook Pro and have the same issue.

Any help with resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
