Wow - Gatekeeper is possibly the worst thing I've experienced on a computer recently.

Am I just not getting it?

So, I have a Lightroom 4 disk; but just bought a new Retina MBP without the DVD drive. I hop on the App Store to download it, and realize ... duh ... I'd have to rebuy it again and can't just throw in the key. No big deal - I'll just find a quick torrent and put the key in there - I do this with Windows quite as I often am the "tech guy" in the family and when I wipe someone's computer, you can often times just throw in the serial key on the back of their tower. Anyhoo, whatever.

But when my slow internet finally tries to open the .pkg, I get an error. Apparently, Gatekeeper - something I've never used as I'm coming from Snow Leopard - is blocking it. Not a huge deal, a quick Google shows how to disable it. So I select "Anywhere" and open again.

It still won't open.

So, do some more digging, and find the "spctl" command line. I label the .pkg and then tell it to allow me to open it. It doesn't. So I think - maybe you have to label the .dmg; so I do that, grant access.... no changes.

ARG!

I guess I'll download the trial; but I currently am suffering some pretty terrible internet speeds; was trying to avoid another hour long download. But honestly, it's not even that - it's just how draconian this piece of crap is. I'm holding judgement for a little bit - maybe I'm just missing something. But if I select "Anywhere" in my security settings, that should be the end of it. This is just awful.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
