I have a problem importing clips into iMovie 11 from a camera archive (AVCHD).
When I go to File --> Import from Camera Archive, I can select the archive just fine (it's not grayed out), and then I get the import screen where I can select clips to import. Then I check some clips and click import, and the process starts.
But then the clip imports ALWAYS fail with a message "iMovie can't import the selected clip. To make a camera archive. . ." Some of the clips do import successfully, but most don't.
I made the camera archives using iMovie 11. So I don't get why iMovie 11 wouldn't open an archive that was made by the same version of iMovie.
Anyone have any suggestions about getting stubborn clips to import to iMovie 11 from an AVCHD camera archive?

(Added background: the reason I am trying to import from an archive is because some of my iMovie events have developed some visual artifacts, which appeared after I transferred my iMovie library from one storage hard drive to another. So for those clips that have those annoying artifacts, I'm trying to re-import from the original AVCHD archives. So this is perhaps a secondary question: have others found that they get artifacts in their clips when they move their imovie library from one hard drive to another?)
