Hi,
I think I have tried about eight suggestions from this forum and others, but no previous post I've found has 100% solved my issue.
I am running iPhoto '08
1) I today created a second iPhoto library on a new external drive. Running a test drive with a few events, I have been able to export photos from the old library to a folder and then import from that folder to the new Library.
2) I want to move about half of my photos , all managed by iPhoto, to this new library on a new external drive, and I want all of the event titles, photo titles, and album titles to move too.
3) I want to move both jpeg and Canon Raw photos.
4) I don't want to use third party software to do this.
5) I've found two roadblocks that I'm hoping the community will help me get through.
6) I have been able to successfully retain the photo titles (captions) in the new external drive library but not the event titles. How can I move the event titles too?
(P.S. one post suggested I could accomplish point #2 above by trashing an Event to iPhoto trash, empty iPhoto trash, find the event in OSX trash, and copy it from OSX trash to my new library. This method apparently will accomplish my goal, but my OSX trash appears empty after trashing my iPhoto trash! Nothing shows up in OSX trash.
7) I can't export any of the Canon RAW photos. (exporting just stops with an error message) How can I export the RAW files?
8 ) When I try to export dozens of Events at once to a folder on either my laptop hard drive or the the new external drive , I get an error message saying I don't have enough free disk space so I began by exporting one event at a time. (time consuming!) My laptop HDD is almost full, but why should this exporting take up so much space?
Thanks very much!!
