I had a few scans of album covers that needed some cropping to remove empty space along the edge of the image. So I went into Preview and cropped the images, which seemed to be the simplest solution. After cropping and hitting save I closed and reopened the image to make sure it was properly cropped. When I clicked the show inspector option I noticed that the images were now assigned the Generic RGB color profile. I was dealing with four images, and none of them had a color profile assigned before being cropped in Preview. I can't seem to find any settings within Preview that tell it to assign that profile when I save images, and it isn't the color profile for my entire system. I am curious to know what is going on here.
Also one other related question. Why does Preview need to resample the image when saving after a crop. For example the first image I edited was 1426 x 1399 and 4MB before cropping. After the crop it was 1406 x 1399 and 520KB. So obvious the image was resampled before saving. Is there anyway to just crop and save the image with resampling?
