By default, iTunes copies my music into iTunes itself. I can find the files by right-clicking and revealing the files.
Let's say I have a Music folder and want to manually control my music and let iTunes reference my music folder instead.
What are the pros and cons, performance wise? Is iTunes happier when my music is stored in its own infrastructure? Or is just a personal preference thing?
