Chrome and Firefox scrolling too choppy?

Hi everyone,

I have read some other posts related to this but always didn't end with a good solution, so I am asking one myself.

I own a 2012 macbook air 11" 128gb, and 4gb ram, and Safari has been working really well with super smooth scrolling, which is very important to me.

Since I don't have an iPhone, and I have an android phone and tablet, I wanted to sync both tabs and bookmarks by using chrome or firefox. Both browsers work very well on my android devices, and chrome is also pretty smooth due to both of my devices being Nexus devices. However, both browsers on my mac is a horrible experience. Chrome is better than firefox after I changed some "flags", and why is it always very choppy to scroll when initially scrolling before the website finished loading? Safari is very smooth in exactly the same situation. You can try loading Engadget website and scroll as soon as you can see good amount of contents but not really finished loading completely, and you will notice this too. You may ask why do I need to start scrolling the page first before reading what's on top of the website. Well, I sometimes need to get to the bottom or middle or other parts of the website, because I know where the option, or contents, or other stuff are located. It's happened with me a lot of times, and chrome is making me really frustrated. However, after the first initial choppy scrolling, the scrolling is pretty smooth, and it's comparable to safari.

Firefox on the other hand..is even more frustrating experience. Doesn't even have the bounce effect when reaching the top and bottom of the website, doesn't have any animation for two finger swipe to go back and forward, and lastly, scrolling is even worse than chrome.

Do you guys know any way I can make these browsers smoother, in general scrolling and also initial scrolling? I did change the chrome setting, but not firefox setting. Also, I have heard older version of firefox was smooth on mac, but recent versions are choppy. Do you guys recommend me to use the older versions? Do they lack a lot of features? Do you know other browsers that is as smooth as safari on mac that can possibly sync with android? And why are these big company browsers like chrome and firefox so choppy on mac?

Thanks a bunch, and I hope to get some help soon!
