Alternative to Font Book?

Hey folks --

I've got ~700 fonts installed on my MBP, and Font Book is a constant FAIL of beachballing -- clearly this number of fonts exceeds its capabilities.

That said, I don't really need a professional level solution -- aside from the performance issue, Font Book does everything I need at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a slightly more robust and preferably free or inexpensive font manager?
